England Level the Series
After a
disappointing loss in the Lord’s Test, England has leveled the series in a
very dominant manner. The third test was a near-perfect match for the hosts.
India’s performance on the other hand was not up to the mark. Indian team
suffered 2 batting collapses even though they fought hard in the second
innings.
Anderson lead from the front in the first innings and took a fiver, England’s batting was spot on as their new opening pair stitched a partnership of 100+ with both of them reaching 50+ scores. Dawid Malan’s comeback to the test team was also perfect as he scored 70 along with Joe Root hitting yet another 100. England made 422 runs, India was trailing them by 300+ runs.
KL Rahul departed soon as the Indian team came out to bat the second time, Rohit and Pujara had a good partnership of around 100 runs as Rohit continued his good form with another 50 and Pujara’s 91 was a testament to the quality he possesses as he hit a 50 after 12 innings. Captain Kohli also made a 50 after 8 innings but departed soon after, it was Robinson this time who got a fiver as Indian batters crumbled soon after Kohli departed.
This match
was completely dominated by England as they leveled the series. Joe Root
became the most successful England test captain after winning this one as he
went past Michael Vaughan as he completed 27 test wins as a captain. Ollie
Robinson has announced himself on the big stage as he already has 2 fivers in
only 4 test matches and can also contribute with the bat when required,
England has found another quality all-rounder.
The squads for the 4th test match have been announced, Chris Woakes and Sam Billings are in the squad now. Chris Woakes is coming back from an ankle injury and has a good record against India too, he’ll be on the list of players to watch out for this test. As the next test will be played at The Oval, we might see Ashwin back in the side?
